Joan Elizabeth Falciola passed away peacefully at age 90 on February 27, 2025. Joan was born in 1934 to Charles and Ruth Bowman in Marion, Ohio.
Joan spent numerous hours with her beloved grandparents, "Mom" and "Pop" Merchant, where she developed her faith, love of reading, home making skills and appreciation for a quiet, simple life. She was an Honor Society member, played clarinet and volleyball. She graduated from Claridon High School in 1952.
Later the same year she married Arthur Gruber at Trinity Baptist Church. They welcomed five children; David (Linda), Janet, Mary (Eugenio), John (Karen) and James (died in infancy).
Joan dedicated her life to instilling values and providing opportunities for her children. She stressed the importance of education and the love of reading. She supported her children with music and swimming lessons, 4-H, Cub Scouts, church activities, Bible School, summer camps and sports.
When her children were older, Joan went back to work. She worked at J. C.
